Notes |
Crosbyside, originally called the United States Hotel, was built ca. 1853 by Daremus & Dixon of New York. In 1855 it was used by the Lake Gerge Young Ladies Institute. IN 1856, Frances Crosby purchased it and renamed it Crosbyside. It was fashionable as a young ladies and gentleman's resort. It is now Wiawaka, a camp for working women. The print is listed in Seneca Ray Stoddard's "Catalogue of Photographs of New York Scenery," 1877. These are two halves of an unmounted stereo. |
