The original sanitarium ran by Dr. Edward H. Bemis was in the Allen House on the corner of Union and Glen Street in the 1890's. The sanitarium also included the Marion on Notre Dame Street. Later after Dr. Edward H. Bemis death in the early 1900's his son Dr. Edward E. moved the sanitarium the Bemis home at 232 Glen Street. In 1918, it was listed at 9 Sherman Avenue. The sanitarium ended after Dr. Edward Bemis' death ca. 1920, Dr. Bemis residence was originally owned by Augustus Sherman |
