This photograph was part of a private archival collection collected by Alexander Miller, Superintendent of the Glens Falls Schools. Built by George Clendon, Sr. 1850-60. The dwelling at 216 Glen Street once owned by George Clendon Sr. then by Theodore S DeLong then by his daughter Mrs. Edward F. Irish. Just before it was torn down in May 1930. The house at (146) 216 Glen was built by George Clendon Sr. ca. 1851. The map is shown on a 1851 map. About 1874-1905, Theodore DeLong owned the house. He was the son of Zopher DeLong and brother of John DeLong who owned the Chapman House. Zopher, Theodore and John ran the DeLong and Sons hardware store. From 1907-1929 Edward Irish lived in the house. One of Theodore's daughters married Edward Irish. The house was torn dow to make way for the Standard Gas Station in 1930. |
