Notes |
The Lake House was on the site of the James Caldwell home. In 1832, James Caldwell added onto his home and started a hotel. In 1840, John Sherrill and later his son-in-law, Fred G. Tucker, operated the hotel. In 1895, the hotel was improved by the Horicon Improvement Company. The hotel had four cottages and could hold 300 guests. In 1904, the hotel was torn down. In 1917, Shepard Park was dedicated on the site. The print is listed in Stoddard's "Catalogue of Photographs of New York Scenery," 1877. |
